Ghana Rainstorm Flattens 100 Tuopare Homes, Cuts Power

A powerful rainstorm hit the Tuopare Electoral Area on Friday afternoon and destroyed nearly 100 homes. The storm started around 4pm and lasted several hours. Strong winds tore roofs off buildings and knocked down fence walls across the community. Many families lost everything they had built over years of hard work. Both old and new houses suffered major damage from the fierce weather.

Matthew Doghle lost his eight-room house that he just finished building. The 54-year-old farmer said he feels heartbroken and needs help to start over. Justin Laar spent five years building his five-room home and finished the roof just two months ago. He watched the storm destroy everything and asked the government for assistance. Assembly Member Augustine Dery called the destruction unprecedented for their area.

The storm knocked down electricity poles and left the entire community without power. Trees fell across roads and blocked access to some neighborhoods. Tuopare Junior High School also suffered damage to its main building. Small businesses and shops were flattened during the storm. Community leaders want NADMO and other agencies to send emergency relief supplies.
