Ghana rolled out December in GH to create local jobs

Ghana wants December in GH 2026 to put more cash in local hands, not just draw crowds. The nation has kicked off its festive campaign with a fresh push for jobs and trade. Tourism Minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie wants the holiday buzz to bring real gains for people who work in travel, art, and music.

And the plan goes far beyond concerts and parties. Ghana to the World is the theme, with local food, clothes, art, music, and rich cultural sites all getting a chance to shine. Guests from Ghana and abroad are the main focus.

Gomashie made one thing clear. A high guest count or a packed event should not be the sole test of a good festive season. She wants to see new jobs, more sales for small firms, and a steady way for local people to earn a living.

Think of the range of people set to gain. Hotels, food sellers, tour guides, music acts, film crews, fashion brands, craft makers, and young business minds all have a role. Even those who book trips or make online content could see more work.

There is also a push to get guests out across Ghana's 16 regions. Each area has food, crafts, music, and sites worth a visit. The aim is to get more people to spend with local traders rather than limit their trips to big shows.

Still, the main goal is what happens to those firms and workers once the holiday rush fades. Ghana wants guests to leave with good memories, while local shops and service firms keep the gains from their visits.

For this year's run, culture, fun, and trade will share the focus. State officials hope the plan helps Ghana draw more tourists and gives people in host areas a fair share of the money spent.
