Ghana Seeks Six Billion to Fund Flood Control

Ghana needs six billion dollars to stop flooding problems across the nation. Works Minister Kenneth Gilbert Adjei told lawmakers the government will seek private company partnerships and climate funding. Development partners will also help pay for the massive project. The minister wants Ghana to become flood-resistant and climate-smart for all people. Parliament heard his statement about ongoing water damage and prevention plans.

The ministry will focus on urgent flooding challenges first. Workers will clean drains and remove dirt from problem areas right away. Officials plan to enforce building rules more strictly. Structures built on waterways will be torn down to let water flow freely. Education campaigns will teach people about proper sanitation and flood dangers.

The government will turn on its Flood Early Warning System soon. Weather experts and disaster management teams will work together on the project. The Hydrological Authority will help track water levels across Ghana. This system should reduce flood risks before storms hit communities. Better preparation can save lives and property from water damage.

The minister believes this crisis can create opportunities for better infrastructure. Sustainable building projects will protect the environment and help communities. Public support and parliamentary backing are essential for success. The comprehensive plan addresses both immediate needs and long-term solutions.
