Ghana Woman Trades Birthday Cake for Kids Smiles

Roberta Donkor spends her birthday helping children instead of partying. The Volta Pad manager brings food and supplies to kids who need basic items. She started this charity work during 2023 when she gave reusable pads to girls at local schools. Friends help her collect rice, soap and other necessities for the annual donations. Donkor wants other Ghanaians to celebrate birthdays through charitable acts.

The businesswoman delivered supplies to Xorladi Centre at Ho for vulnerable children. Diana Agbeko runs the facility that houses 36 orphans, street kids and disabled youth. Church partners created the home during 2002 after finding an abandoned malnourished baby. Staff members screen each child carefully before accepting them into the safe environment. The centre protects kids whose parents cannot provide proper care.

Voice Ghana alerts workers when children face dangerous situations across the region. Rescue teams save youth from people who want to harm them. The facility serves as home for kids who have lost their families. Diana says donations help children feel loved and hopeful about their futures. Public support helps the centre continue its mission beyond founder contributions.
