Girona lands World Cup winner Thomas Lemar from Atlético

Girona secured Thomas Lemar from Atlético Madrid through a temporary agreement lasting until the 2025-2026 campaign concludes. The French midfielder brings World Cup experience after helping his nation triumph in Russia during 2018. Lemar started his professional journey at Caen before establishing himself at Monaco, where he contributed to their 2016-2017 league championship success.

The 29-year-old joined Atlético Madrid in 2018 and appeared in more than 170 matches for the Spanish club. He played a vital role when the team captured the La Liga title during the 2020-2021 season. Lemar demonstrates flexibility across multiple attacking positions, operating effectively as a winger, playmaker, or central attacking midfielder.

His technical abilities and field awareness make him valuable for creating scoring opportunities. The Guadeloupe-born player excels at finding teammates through precise passing while working hard defensively. Girona expects Lemar to enhance their competitive strength as they pursue success in Spain's top division.
