Giroud Eyes Summer Move to Lille as Talks Progress with LAFC

French striker Olivier Giroud wants to move back to France and join Lille this summer. The veteran player currently competes for Los Angeles FC in Major League Soccer. French media outlet Foot Mercato reports that Lille has strong interest in signing the experienced forward. Sources confirm that talks between the clubs are moving forward well. The discussions remain private but appear promising for both sides.

Giroud has a deal with the American team that lasts through December 2025. Los Angeles FC can choose to extend his contract for another year if they want. The two parties plan to meet soon to talk about his future with the club. This comes after Los Angeles FC lost their chance to advance in the FIFA Club World Cup. The timing makes sense for both the player and his current team to consider new options.

Lille plans to offer Giroud a one-year contract with a chance to stay longer. The French club feels confident about making the deal happen. Giroud clearly wants to return to playing in Ligue 1 again. His desire to come back to French soccer helps Lille feel optimistic about their chances. The club believes they can convince him to make the move from America back to France.
