A Gokwe South farmer received a tractor valued at 26,000 dollars as the grand prize in the SeedCo Annual National Crop Farming Competition. Melusi Musindo from Gomoguru Village defeated thousands of competitors to claim the 2025 national title at a ceremony held at his home.
Provincial agriculture officials recognized Musindo's success as evidence that smallholder farmers can strengthen Zimbabwe's food supply when given proper resources and training. The 85-year-old seed company said the contest supports the government's Vision 2030 economic development plan through the promotion of sustainable farming methods.
SeedCo National Sales Manager Ronnie Chigombe credited Musindo's victory to the consistent use of quality seeds and following guidance from agricultural advisors. The competition operates at district, provincial, and national levels with prizes awarded at each stage.
