Government Introduces 4Es Program to Boost Women in ICT

Zimbabwe has started a new program to help women join tech jobs. They named it the 4Es—education, empowerment, elevation, and encouragement. The tech ministry created this plan. They want everyone to use computers and the Internet as the country develops.

Minister Tatenda Mavetera discussed the Giga project at a women's tech meeting. This plan connects schools across Zimbabwe to the Internet and fixes language problems and other issues that prevent people from using digital tools.

Mavetera explained that Giga creates opportunities for young people, especially women in tech. She told people about a new Acceleration Centre coming soon. This center will work on Fish Intelligence and help create new ideas in the tech world.

Many organizations need to support more tech programs, especially in science and math. The minister believes everyone deserves these opportunities. President Mnangagwa recently began digital skills programs. These programs connect different business types to ensure all citizens can use digital tools.

Women play more active roles in tech today than in the past. A new Women in ICT Chamber helps reduce gender differences. Although these programs focus on helping women, they also benefit men.

Business investors help Zimbabwe create better tech systems. The government provides scholarships for girls who study tech subjects. They also improve internet access for women who live far from cities and have limited connections.

Laws apply equally to all businesses, regardless of size. Each company follows the same rules. As online dangers increase daily, the government teaches data protection workers how to keep personal information safe.

The ministry is building a Security Operations Centre to protect citizens by monitoring online activities. Forming partnerships remains difficult. These relationships matter for Giga's success and for making the business more digital.

Joyce Beza from the Computer Society emphasized teaching technology to kids early. Their programs help students from elementary through college develop abilities for future careers.

Ruvarashe Chikunya, who finished university, encourages more women to explore tech jobs. She believes confidence matters most. Women perform equally well as men, possibly better. Today, technology companies welcome workers from all backgrounds.

Blessing Moyo recalls when, during her university years, mostly men studied technology. She suggests girls use computers from a young age to feel at ease with technology. This approach reduces differences between men and women in tech fields.

These projects demonstrate efforts to create fair chances for everyone interested in technology. They concentrate on developing skills throughout the tech field. These actions build a future where many different people work in technology positions.

Supporting women in tech serves as a key strategy for growing Zimbabwe. It develops the nation and expands the economy for everyone.
