Government Outlines Three Pillars of 24-Hour Economy Policy

Ghana announced its new economic plan that will keep businesses running around the clock. The government revealed three main parts of the 24-Hour Economy Policy during a meeting with Parliament leaders. Officials said the plan will create more jobs and help the country grow faster. Augustus Obuadum Tanoh brought the policy details to Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin on Thursday. The plan focuses on making products, improving supply chains, and training workers.

The policy contains eight smaller programs with different goals for the nation. Agriculture will anchor the production changes to ensure Ghana has enough food for everyone. Manufacturing will increase under the Make 24 program to produce more goods locally. The Aspire 24 section aims to make government offices work better and faster. Show Ghana will promote the country's culture and bring tourists from other nations.

President John Dramani Mahama plans to start the program on July 2, 2025. The National Democratic Congress promised this policy during the 2024 election campaign. Both government and private businesses will work different shifts to serve people all day and night. Speaker Bagbin welcomed the plan but wants Parliament to debate it first. He asked lawmakers to support the policy regardless of their political party to help all Ghanaians benefit from the changes.
