The government has started a holiday campaign focused on drug abuse awareness. It is aimed at drivers and communities along busy highways and high traffic zones. This push comes from worries about increasing substance use during the festive period. The effort is coordinated by the National Committee on Drug and Substance Abuse.
The campaign will run until December twenty fourth, beginning in Harare. It will cover major routes like the roads to Beitbridge, Mutare, Chirinda, and Plumtree. The Nyamapanda Mukumbura highway is also included. Outreach will extend into high-density and outlying areas around the capital, such as Chitungwiza, Mazowe, and Goromonzi. Fanwell Dzoma, a deputy director in the relevant ministry, stated the committee was formed several years ago to address this growing national issue.
