Govt to Smash Waste Monopoly and Boost Recycling

The government wants many different companies to help clean up trash in Ghana. Mr Mohammed, who leads the Environment Ministry, says letting more companies collect trash will improve things for everyone. He also wants small companies and local groups to join this work.

Clean streets help people stay healthy. When trash sits around, it can make people sick and cause problems like stomach pain. Some people burn their trash outside because they have nowhere else to put it, which makes the air dirty and hard to breathe.

Mr Mohammed visited the office that protects Ghana's environment. There, he met Professor Klutse and other important people. They discussed ways to fix trash problems and make Ghana cleaner.

The minister spoke about another big problem. People dig holes all over the land to find gold, and this hurts the earth and makes water dirty. He wants children to plant trees and take care of them. He thinks children will protect their trees and help make Ghana green again.

Mr Mohammed asked everyone to help keep Ghana clean and beautiful. He said President Mahama wants to stop anyone who hurts the environment, no matter which group they belong to. The minister wants churches, mosques, and other places of worship to join together and protect the land.
