Govt urges media to ditch stereotypes, tell real Zimbabwe story

A senior government official has challenged local media to abandon outdated stereotypes and narratives that undermine national efforts. Jonathan Gandari, a chief director within the Information Ministry, stated that journalists should act as narrators of the country's progress. He emphasized that the government seeks truthful testimonies from grassroots communities, not propaganda, and that these realities should be reported openly and honestly.

Gandari highlighted several sectors as pillars of national development, citing unprecedented growth in mining and a regained status as a regional breadbasket in agriculture. He also pointed to Education 5.0, describing it as a model that transforms learning institutions into centers of innovation and production where students create companies and contribute to development.
