Archbishop Raphael P'Mony Wokorach blessed a new church Sunday built by Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, in Agago district. The chief justice created St Matthew's Chapel to honor his late parents, who died in 1996 and 2012. Hundreds of people came to the event from across Uganda. Local leaders and court officials joined the crowd at Kal Aloi village, where Owiny-Dollo grew up.
Wokorach asked people to use the church to become better citizens and build their community. A local choir member praised the new building because locals once prayed under trees or in classrooms. The sister of Owiny-Dollo thanked him because older people can attend services near home instead of walking four miles. She said many elderly people stopped going to church because the trip was hard.
