Gwanda council taps business to fix old folks home

Gwanda town leaders want to fix up the old people's home because it looks run down. They asked local shops and companies to help them pay for repairs. The building needs new doors, ceiling work, roof fixes, better floors, and pipes that work right.

Doveline Enterprises stepped up first by providing doors and cement bags for the project. Mr. Martin Mhlanga from Doveline handed over these building supplies as part of how his company gives back to the area. The mayor of Gwanda, Mr. Thulani Moyo, promises to find more helpers for this job.

"People often bring food for the elderly residents but forget about the building itself," says Mayor Moyo. He points out that many parts of the home have been left alone for years. The pipes leak, doors hang broken, and ceilings sag dangerously low above the heads of those who live there.

The town will handle sewer system repairs itself but cannot manage everything alone. Money remains tight for such big projects. Mayor Moyo asks every business around Gwanda to chip in whatever they can afford - whether cash, supplies, or worker time.

"Our older citizens deserve clean, safe places to live," Mayor Moyo explains. He believes the community must come together on this project. Small donations add up when everyone joins the effort. The repairs might take months but will change life for every person staying at the home.
