Hailstorm Wrecks Kalangala Police Barracks, Three Dead

A terrible hailstorm struck Bugala Island early today, killing three people near the Kalangala District Police station. The powerful storm blew in from the east side of Kalangala and tore through the area with devastating force. It ripped apart almost all housing for police officers and damaged part of the main station's roof.

Regional Police Spokesman Twaha Kasirye confirmed three deaths from the disaster. He named Detective Sergeant Mujasi Michael as one victim, plus two regular citizens whose names haven't been released yet. Many other cops and local people suffered bad injuries during the violent weather event. Medical teams rushed the hurt survivors to Kalangala HC1V for emergency treatment.

Recovery crews found the bodies and moved them to Kalangala Hospital, where they remain in the morgue. The community faces major rebuilding challenges as officials assess the full extent of destruction across the police facilities. Local authorities continue gathering information about everyone affected by this unexpected natural disaster.

The sudden hailstorm represents one of the worst weather events to hit the island police station in recent memory. Emergency services worked quickly despite their buildings being heavily damaged. Many officers lost their homes but continued helping injured neighbors even as they dealt with their losses.
