Cops just caught three guys who robbed Kirsty Coventry's mom and dad at their Harare home on March 10. The thieves took stuff worth more than $90,000, including several Olympic things that belonged to Coventry. John and Mike Nongwe, who happen to be brothers, face charges about the break-in when they show up at court Friday.
These brothers carried guns when they broke into the house. They tied Robert Edwin and Lyn Coventry's hands and feet with shoelaces, making them helpless inside their Glen Lorne neighborhood home. The bad guys searched every room and grabbed $15,000 cash plus jewelry valued at $60,000. They also stole three hair dryers, Coventry's Olympic swimsuits, travel bags, hearing aids worth $5,000, and three hunting guns.
Law officers already found part of what was taken from the suspects. They plan to use these items as proof when the case goes to trial. The police continue looking for anything else the robbers might have hidden or sold after the crime happened.
