Harare horror as Alick Macheso sees Majuicy and Nyamunda fall

Zimbabwean sungura king Alick Macheso faces heartbreak as illness ravages his Orchestra Mberikwazvo family. The legendary musician watches helplessly while veteran performers battle serious health crises that threaten their musical careers. During a recent Harare concert, Macheso revealed the devastating impact these conditions have on his beloved bandmates. Dancer Selemani Majuicy made a brief stage appearance after disappearing for weeks due to severe leg problems. Medical experts ordered complete rest for the popular performer who remains unable to return to dancing.

Guitar maestro Tafi Nyamunda continues playing despite losing his sight completely. Fellow musicians guide the blind artist around the stage during performances while he contributes his musical talents. Macheso expressed deep concern about Nyamunda needing constant assistance with basic daily activities. The situation weighs heavily on the bandleader who considers his musicians family members rather than employees. Nyamunda relies entirely on others for navigation and personal care.

Multiple health disasters plague other Orchestra Mberikwazvo members across different time periods. Vocalist Elton Muropa disappeared from performances months ago while fighting an undisclosed illness. Lucky Mumiriki suffered his second devastating stroke after appearing to recover from his 2011 medical emergency. Taurai Ponda Ponda Miti remains wheelchair-bound following his serious 2020 road accident injuries. Macheso provides financial support and emotional care for all affected musicians regardless of their ability to perform.
