A well-known businessman from Harare lost US$5,000 during a night out at Evitro Club in Belgravia, after allegedly falling victim to theft by two women. The pair, identified as Brenda Muchingwe and Paida Muchina from Redcliff, Kwekwe, appeared before Magistrate Ruth Moyo, facing charges of stealing the substantial sum while socializing with the businessman, Peter Simon Sini. Prosecutors detailed how Muchingwe is accused of taking the wallet before handing it to Muchina, after which both women left the venue. Their legal counsel has contested their placement on remand, resulting in a postponement of proceedings.
In a separate incident, a restaurant manager in Mutare was convicted for unauthorized use of his employer’s bank card. Kudzai Masikati admitted to withdrawing funds from Mimach Restaurant’s NMB account after using the stolen card, with security footage confirming his actions. After cooperating with authorities and returning the stolen money, Masikati received a 10-month sentence, with half suspended for good behavior and the remainder converted to community service at Chikanga Primary School. The court recognized his remorse and restitution as mitigating factors in the sentencing.
