Haruna Iddrisu grilled as Mahama’s PTA comeback sparks audit panic

Ghana Education Service committee members submitted fresh Parent-Teachers Association regulations to Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu after comprehensive development work. Committee Chairman Kofi Asare outlined three additional rules governing school-based partnerships between families and educators. The new framework restricts membership to parents with enrolled students and establishes executive term boundaries. Basic school leaders may serve two consecutive two-year periods while secondary school officials face single-term restrictions.

Financial oversight received substantial enhancement through mandatory Auditor General reviews of association accounts. President John Dramani Mahama ordered nationwide PTA restoration in July 2025 following concerns about reduced parental participation in educational governance. The committee consulted educational experts and advocacy groups during guideline creation. Minister Iddrisu praised the comprehensive approach toward rebuilding community engagement within Ghana's academic institutions.
