Hasina caught on tape ordering drone strikes in the Dhaka crackdown

Bangladesh's International Crimes Tribunal presented damaging evidence Wednesday against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her crimes against humanity trial. Court officials broadcast four phone recordings that allegedly show Hasina ordering deadly force against protesters during the 2024 mass uprising. The prosecution obtained 69 audio clips and call records as part of their investigation into atrocities committed under her leadership.

Hasina faces trial while absent from the country, having fled following her resignation. The recordings reportedly capture her directing security forces to use lethal weapons and deploy paratroopers against demonstrators. Criminal Investigation Department experts verified the authenticity of the audio evidence through voice-matching tests. United Nations reports indicate over 1,400 people died during the government crackdown.
