The High Court in Lilongwe backed Simplex Chithyola Banda after his opponent Joseph Manguluti tried to overturn the Kasungu South parliamentary election results. Justice Redson Kapindu tossed the case because witness names on sworn statements did not match their IDs and signatures, which tanked the whole petition.
Chithyola's lawyer, Wapona Kita, said this was huge for his client since he leads the opposition, and losing would have wrecked things. The court basically said the election stood as called, and people are saying it keeps political representation stable in the area while showing courts can handle election fights properly.
