The Highlanders Athletics Club conducted its first half-marathon on Sunday morning, and the 21-kilometer race represented a significant expansion from past events that featured only 5-kilometer fun runs and 10-kilometer competitions. Organizers started the 10-kilometer race at 6:30 a.m., and the 5-kilometer event began at 7 a.m. Participants followed marked routes on Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport Road with turnaround points at 10.5 kilometers for the half-marathon, 5 kilometers for the 10-kilometer race, and 2.5 kilometers for the 5-kilometer event. Officials completed all races by noon, and organizers reported satisfaction with the execution of the event that attracted substantial numbers of athletes and spectators.
