Hima Cement Drives Mental Health Buzz at Queens Ball

Hima Cement teamed up with Nnabagerekka Sylvia Nagginda Women's Fund to focus on mental health at this year's Queen's Ball. The event celebrated people who help fight mental health stigma across Uganda. Over 200 youth entered a writing contest about mental health, with five winners each getting 3 million shillings for school.

Queen Sylvia Nagginda asked families to help those facing mental health problems. She said doctors can treat these illnesses if people seek help. Hima Cement spokesperson Caroline Kezaabu said building strong communities starts with healing minds. About 35% of Ugandans have mental health issues, but the country has very few mental health workers.

Buganda Kingdom leader Charles Peter Mayiga talked about how money problems can hurt mental health. Minister Kazibwe Kitooke warned that many young people use drugs, even hiding them in food at universities. The event ended with calls for better mental health care systems across Uganda.
