Hit-and-run kills two in Nakasongola, driver vanishes into night

Cops in Nakasongola are looking for a driver who killed two people and took off. The victims were riding a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle along the road near the army barracks when a faster vehicle smashed into them from behind. Both men died right there. Police named them as David Semanda, who was thirty-five, and Robert Mande, the sixty-year-old local council chairperson for Lwampanga Village.

The regional police spokesman, ASP Sam Twiineamazima, said the unknown driver sped away after the crash. The bodies were taken to a health center mortuary, and the wrecked motorcycle was held at the police station. Reports suggest the two were coming back from a political gathering led by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, which was meant to drum up support for President Museveni before the next election.

Authorities are asking the public for any tips that could identify the vehicle involved. They also issued a general reminder for everyone on the road to watch their speed and be more careful after dark. The investigation is active as they try to find the person responsible.
