Hoffenheim replaces injured Gendre with West Ham freebie Koval

Hoffenheim completed the acquisition of Czech defender Vladimir Koval from West Ham United through a free transfer agreement. The German club moved quickly to secure the right-back after Valentin Gendre suffered a long-term injury. Sporting director Andreas Schicker emphasized the urgent need to fill the defensive position with an experienced player. Koval brings Premier League experience from his tenure with the English side. The Czech international accumulated extensive playing time during his West Ham career spanning from October 2020. His 180 official appearances yielded 20 assists while representing the London club. Prior achievements with Slavia Prague produced three championship victories before his English move. International duty brought 55 caps for the Czech Republic with one goal and 12 assists recorded. Koval expressed enthusiasm about joining the Bundesliga club after productive discussions with management regarding his new challenge in German football.
