Hossam Hassan snubs Haitham as Salah, Marmoush get Egypt nod

Egyptian national team coach Hossam Hassan has finalized his list of overseas-based players for the October training camp. The coach plans to summon five professionals from European and Gulf clubs for the upcoming matches. Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah leads the group alongside Al-Wakrah midfielder Hamdi Fathi, Nantes striker Mostafa Mohamed, Al Ain defender Rami Rabia and Manchester City winger Omar Marmoush. Uncertainty remains around Haitham Hassan's participation as Egyptian officials continue discussions with his representatives.

The Pharaohs face two African World Cup qualifying fixtures during the international break. Egypt meets Djibouti on October 6 before traveling to face Guinea-Bissau seven days later. Both matches serve as part of the continental qualification process for the 2026 World Cup tournament. Hassan's squad selection aims to strengthen Egypt's position in the qualifying campaign.
