Salah bags extra-time stunner as Egypt oust Benin

Salah bailed out Egypt again because, of course, he did. That Liverpool winger finally clinched a win for the Pharaohs over Benin at the Africa Cup of Nations held in Agadir. This dude smashed a shot past Marcel Dandjinou deep inside extra periods to secure a rough victory.

Marwan Attia actually opened scoring initially, but Jodel Dossou leveled things up for the Cheetahs. Things stayed tied until Yasser Ibrahim headed Egypt back ahead. Salah then ended hopes for the minnows with his tenth career competition goal.

Benin played minus captain Steve Mounie due to sickness. Omar Marmoush almost scored early but failed. The Manchester City attacker got blocked repeatedly, while Yohan Roche cleared lines. Egypt rotated almost everyone except Ibrahim Adel from their previous group game.

Mohamed Hamdy got injured after colliding with Rodolfo Aloko. Ahmed Aboul-Fetouh replaced him. Goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy made saves against Dossou later on. Egypt moves forward to play either the Ivory Coast or Burkina Faso to chase that title.
