Hot air balloon rides have become a popular way for travelers to view natural scenery from above, and in Myanmar, visitors can now enjoy this experience over the Bagan cultural zone during the open season. Three companies—Balloons Over Bagan, Oriental Ballooning Myanmar, and STT Ballooning—will operate flights this year. Balloons Over Bagan began on 18 October and will fly until April 2026. Oriental Ballooning starts on 18 November and runs through March 2026, while STT Ballooning begins in early November and ends in February 2026.
Each ride costs between US$170 and US$175 per person. Balloons Over Bagan, currently running two balloons, has already taken more than 600 bookings. Tourists from China, Japan, the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Korea often choose this activity. They enjoy views of Bagan’s 3,822 temples and pagodas spread across 19 square miles, especially at sunrise or on cool winter mornings when mist and green fields create striking scenes from the sky.
