A leech is a person who always expects to get free things from you and doesn't return the favor in any shape or form unless they are directly confronted about why they are behaving like a free rider or a clout chaser.

Leeches also have a sense of entitlement where they think just because you are friends you are supposed to take care of them, divulge information with them, and anything that they stand to benefit from.

In most situations, leeches are often after money, because with this mentality they can use the host person to suck them dry while at the same time they are secretly making progress on the side. Eventually, if the host person runs into financial problems they will be nowhere to be found but gone in 60 seconds already.

How would you describe a "host person" and how this can be related to clout chasing?

The "host person" is the individual that leeches (or clout chasers) are interested in.

For example, the host person can be a famous celebrity and some of the people around that popular celebrity are just there for clout chasing purposes and to benefit from being in the same limelight without putting in enough work to get there.

So what's the best way to deal with moochers and clout chasers?

The best way to get rid of a person who is a leech (or a moocher) is to simply cut them off and tell them straight up they are free riders who have nothing to contribute to your livelihood except to use you for your resources.

Another thing to watch out for when dealing with a person who is a moocher is that they are either always broke and they have the tendency to make empty promises where they might borrow money without actually paying back the loan.

If you continue to tolerate a person who is a leech they will treat you like a bank that is interest-free and doesn't demand its money back. You will be a monetary puppet to a moocher and you don't want that do you?

If everyone in the modern world keeps complaining about people being fake. Then who is really fake? Another thing is, I have also failed to understand a situation where three people claim to be best friends.

I would rather assume definitely one person amongst them is just their regular friend, while the other two people who met each other earlier on became really the best of friends before the third person came around.
