Humphries Kerstetter nabs ex-CC litigator Scully as partner

Boutique law shop nabs big firm partner again. Humphries Kerstetter just picked up Matthew Scully from Clifford Chance. He is a litigation partner with over twenty-five years of experience in messy corporate fights. His resume includes banking lawsuits, fraud cases, and antitrust battles. The firm also grabbed Stephen Penson, a practice manager from another barristers' chambers.

Scully becomes the sixth partner at the disputes-focused boutique. He spent his whole career at Clifford Chance, making partner there a decade ago. His work involves cross-border courtroom brawls and shareholder arguments. He handles post-merger squabbles and insolvency claims too.

The firm's senior partner called him an outstanding lawyer with great judgment. Scully posted a nice goodbye to his old firm on LinkedIn. He thanked them for the experience and the friendships. A Clifford Chance spokesperson gave the standard well wishes.

This is not the first time the boutique took from that pool. Another former Clifford Chance arbitration partner joined them last year. The new consultant, Penson, will help them drum up more business. He left his old role after twenty-three years.

Managing partner Joanna Pearson said Penson brings great market insight. His job is to help grow the firm and manage client relationships. The hires show this small shop is still looking to get bigger. They keep pulling talent from the giant global firms.
