Husband Shoots Wife in Nakaseke, Then Wounds Himself

Nakaseke police officers started looking into a shooting death at Kaweweta Basic Military Training School. Lance Corporal Denis Sserunkuuma reportedly shot his wife, Kella Kebirungi Adyeri, on Monday afternoon around 3 pm. Sam Twiineamazima from the Savannah Regional Police told reporters that someone called the Kinyogoga police station about the shooting. Early findings show the married couple lived together inside the Kaweweta Army Barracks before the deadly event.

People who saw what happened said the husband and wife fought throughout the day. Their arguments grew worse as hours passed. The trouble began because Adyeri refused to cook food at home. She ran from their grass-thatched house, feeling scared as her husband chased her with a sub-machine gun.

Sserunkuuma fired his weapon at Adyeri and hit her in the head, killing her right away. After shooting his wife, he tried ending his life by pointing the gun at himself. He only managed to shoot himself in the chin instead of causing fatal harm. Law enforcement quickly arrived to document everything at the scene.

Officers created two separate case files - one for murder by shooting and another for attempted suicide after recording all details. Medical staff took the injured husband to Kaweweta Military Health Centre IV for treatment. They transported Adyeri's body to Bombo Military Hospital located in Luwero district, where doctors will perform the necessary postmortem examination to confirm the exact cause of death.
