IBBU students block Agaie Lapai highway after off campus robbery death

Students from Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University shut down the Agaie-Lapai highway during protests on Monday. They acted after armed robbers killed one of their classmates during a nighttime attack. The victim was Jafar, a second-year student who was the only child his parents had. Robbers stabbed him in the neck when they broke into his off-campus housing around 2:30 in the morning. Medical staff at General Hospital in Lapai declared him dead after he arrived there.

The killing made students angry about safety problems that keep happening near their housing areas. Many students live off campus and worry about attacks every night. They want government officials and school leaders to take action right away. Students said Jafar's death was one more tragedy that could have been stopped. They demanded better protection for students who live away from the main campus.

Police officer SP Wasiu Abiodun spoke about the crime and called it armed robbery and murder. Officers came after someone reported the attack but the criminals had already run away. The police chief ordered a complete investigation into what happened. Special police teams went to the area to keep things calm and catch the people who did this crime.
