Kimani Ichung'wah, the Leader of the Majority in Kenya's National Assembly, has a message for President William Ruto. He says the President should not worry about people who criticize his government. Ichung'wah claims he can easily handle them himself.
The Kikuyu MP made these remarks in Kapsaret. President Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki were there, too. They had just opened the Ngeria Technical Training Institute.
Ichung'wah hinted that some former high-ranking officials are now out of a job because of their criticism. He even suggested that some governors could be removed from office for "making noise."
"Mr President, you and your deputy should focus on working for the people," Ichung'wah said. "Leave these noisy people to me. I will deal with them."
Earlier, in Moi's Bridge town, President Ruto told political leaders to slow down on politics. He said there would be time for competition later, and he'd be ready to face his opponents then.
Ruto called his critics "saboteurs" who oppose the nation's progress. He said 2027 is still far away, and it's too early to focus on that. Right now, he says his only opponent is his manifesto.
The President listed the gains made under his leadership so far. These include better education, rural electricity, cheaper fertilizer, health coverage, and affordable housing.
He challenged the opposition to prepare their track record for 2027. Otherwise, he says, they will be stuck without anything to show.
