IECMS to expand to Midlands and Mashonaland West

Zimbabwe’s courtroom tech upgrade just queued two more provinces for the next patch. Chief Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza says the Integrated Electronic Case Management System will reach magistrates’ courts across the Midlands and Mashonaland West. At a national magistrates’ gathering in Bulawayo, she treated digital justice as the judiciary’s chosen route, not some distant wishlist.

Manicaland and Mashonaland East have already joined the electronic setup, clearing the runway for Phase 4.4. Gwaunza wants experienced magistrates to help colleagues facing the switch, while the Judicial Service Commission keeps training, guidance, and institutional backup flowing.

Superior courts received IECMS first, followed by a gradual expansion into lower courts. Through the platform, lawyers and litigants submit documents online, judicial officers handle files digitally, and cases remain traceable from opening to closure. The broader play targets slower queues, missing records, murky processes, and limited access through quicker administration.
