Igbo community feeds 1,300 inmates to keep Nnamdi Kanu company

The Igbo community in Sokoto State visited the local prison where Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader, is held. Their leader, Nze A. C. Madu, said the Christmas trip was inspired by Kanu's situation. They celebrated the holiday with him and every inmate there, providing festive meals for all roughly thirteen hundred people in the facility.

This move was guided by an Igbo principle about keeping watch over your brother. The community made an inclusive choice, knowing about Kanu's reported wish not to eat alone during Christmas. They called the act a humanitarian service rooted in charity and fellowship, for everyone regardless of background. It was meant as a demonstration of compassion and communal solidarity, offering some comfort over the holidays.

They expressed a hope that this gesture would stand as a message promoting peace and unity for everyone. Their intention was to underscore a commitment to basic human goodwill, performing a service that cut across origins or current circumstances.
