Nnamdi Kanu's lawyer collapses in Kuje prison

Aloy Ejimakor, special counsel for Indigenous People of Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu, received emergency care at Kuje Medical Centre after collapsing at the prison facility. Maxwell Opara, another attorney for Kanu, confirmed he visited Ejimakor on Saturday and found him under observation. The medical crisis followed a magistrate's decision on Friday to deny bail for the lawyer.

Police detained Ejimakor on Monday with 12 demonstrators, among them Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the detained separatist's brother, after they gathered in Abuja demanding freedom for the IPOB leader. Authorities brought the group before the Kuje Magistrate Court, where Abubakar Umar Sai'id presided over proceedings. Opara said he spoke with other detainees before staff escorted him to see his ailing colleague.
