IKEA plans to shake up the smart home game with more than twenty new devices hitting stores in January 2026. The furniture giant will build these gadgets using Matter protocol and Thread technology. These products will replace their current Zigbee-based lineup of smart lights, sensors, and remote controls. Customers can connect the new devices to popular systems like Apple HomeKit and Home Assistant. The company wants to make smart home control easier for everyone.

IKEA will preserve the Touchlink feature that lets old remotes work with new Matter devices. Their Dirigera smart home hub already helps bridge the gap between Zigbee and Matter systems. A software update will turn Dirigera into a Matter controller that can manage devices from other brands. The hub gives users central control over their entire smart home setup.
