Imo Police set a crackdown date for the tinted glass ban

Imo State Police Command will launch enforcement operations against unauthorized tinted vehicle windows beginning Saturday, October 4, 2025. DSP Henry Okoye announced the deadline during a Saturday briefing. Motorists with factory-installed tinted glass must secure permits through the official portal at https://possap.gov.ng/ before the grace period ends on October 3, 2025. Commercial transport operators continue to face restrictions on windscreen tinting.

Security officials cited public safety concerns after linking tinted vehicles to criminal activities. Kidnapping cases, armed robberies, and fraudulent passenger schemes prompted the regulatory action. Police will impound non-compliant vehicles and prosecute offenders in accordance with state law. Officers request driver cooperation during roadside checks.

Authorities will approve permits solely for factory-equipped vehicles or those requiring medical accommodation from government hospitals. The command maintains its commitment to protecting state residents through enhanced security protocols.
