Western Commonage magistrate Archie Wochiwunga sentenced MacLean Mwase to pay US$150 after the 42-year-old Pumula North resident admitted striking his wife with a gas cylinder. Mwase must settle the fine before September 30 or face two months' imprisonment. Prosecutor Audrey Kufandikanwe revealed that Mwase attacked Constance Hweru during an August 30 morning dispute at their residence. The victim suffered internal injuries from repeated blows with the 3kg cylinder and required treatment at Mpilo Central Hospital. Police arrested Mwase following a formal complaint.
Magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube remanded Nhlanhla Ndebele and Mandlenkosi Moyo until September 24 for allegedly stealing automotive parts worth over US$10,500. The 26-year-old Tshabalala man and 21-year-old Iminyela resident targeted Sithandazile Sibanda's Kelvin North garage twice within four days. Prosecutor Tafara Dzimbanhete stated the pair took 11 rims and three tyres during their August 21 break-in. Security guards caught Ndebele during their August 25 return visit while Moyo fled the scene. Ndebele's confession led investigators to his accomplice and recovered stolen property.
