Ina GRM released Atelier, a modular platform for sound manipulation and generative synthesis that reimagines the 30-year-old GRM Tools suite without sharing code with its predecessor. The software features eight processor modules and three modulator modules that users can chain freely to generate or transform audio through functions such as Play, Gen, Band, Pitch, Time, Gain, Viz, Comb, Agitation, Control, and Peak. The platform supports multichannel processing from stereo to 64 channels, and a polyadic modulation engine enables complex patch building without artifacts.
Parameter morphing transitions between module snapshots through smooth interpolation for performance applications, and the hybrid workflow combines sound generation with processing capabilities. Atelier runs on macOS systems as a standalone application or plugin in VST3, AUv2, and AAX formats, and costs 199 euros for one month before returning to 249 euros. The Windows version will arrive in early 2026.
