Government data shows a major expansion of public services through post offices. Over four hundred fifty Post Office Passport Seva Kendras processed nearly thirty lakh applications this year, creating significant revenue. More than thirteen thousand post offices now also serve as Aadhaar centers, generating additional income while helping citizens access benefit schemes.
The postal department has implemented Aadhaar based e KYC verification nationwide, opening many new accounts. It partnered with mutual fund and telecom entities to use its vast network for investor verification and mobile sales. A refurbished ATM system at a thousand locations aims for better reliability and faster transactions.
Other initiatives include the Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra, which assists small businesses with direct exports. Planned projects involve a rural digital survey with telecom regulators and on-site verification for crores of registered micro enterprises.
