India and Russia are holding the Indra-2025 joint military exercises in Rajasthan, focusing on counter-terrorism operations, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Monday. The drills, which began last week, opened with a ceremony attended by Major General Andrey Kozlov of Russia and Major General Sanjaya Chandra Kandpal of India.
Both sides aim to improve joint tactical operations, communication, and command of combined forces. About 250 Russian personnel are joining Indian troops in the training. Officials from both nations emphasized that the exercises do not target any specific country or relate to current global tensions.
India and Russia conduct annual defense meetings and have expanded their cooperation to include joint research, development, and co-production of advanced military systems.
