India's tech push drives economy to 4th largest

India rose from the world's 11th largest economy to fourth over the past decade through decisive technological advancement and innovation, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh said on Monday. Singh spoke at the curtain raiser for the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave 2025, scheduled from Nov. 3 to Nov. 5 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The minister credited consistent political vision under Prime Minister Narendra Modi for driving the transformation.

The conclave will focus on 11 thematic areas spanning semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, biotechnology, space technology and clean energy. These sectors are vital to the country's strategic independence and future resilience, Singh said. The event will unite researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs to develop the scientific roadmap for Viksit Bharat 2047. Principal Scientific Adviser Ajay Kumar Sood noted that 13 ministries spanning health, education, agriculture, energy, and electronics will participate.
