Insiza North Primary Scrapped After Vote Chaos

Zanu PF leaders called off Moses Langa's primary election win because of voting problems. His rivals claimed people stuffed ballot boxes during the May 3 vote. Officials set a new election for May 13, just before the May 15 nomination deadline. Party official Munyaradzi Machacha met with everyone on Sunday to discuss the issues. He suggested keeping Langa as the winner because time was running short.

Top party officials rejected this idea after hearing about all the problems. They worried that ignoring the complaints would divide local party members. The original results showed Langa received 2,478 votes against Delani Moyo's 1,564 votes. Qhubani Moyo, who once worked for the election commission, finished third with 983 votes. Seven candidates competed for the chance to replace late MP Farai Taruvinga.

The final election happens on June 24 in both Insiza North and Gutu East areas. Zanu PF expects to win both races easily because opposition parties remain split. The Gutu East spot opened after the party removed Benjamin Ganyiwa.
