Intel CEO Courts TSMC Hookup

Intel might partner with TSMC after all. CEO Tan recently met with TSMC leader C.C. Wei to talk about working together. They discussed how both companies could use each other's strengths. Tan called TSMC a good partner at a meeting with analysts. He said he has been friends with TSMC leaders for years.

Tan joined other TSMC officials at the NA Technology Symposium, showing Intel values this relationship. Reports suggest Intel may ask TSMC to make 2nm chips, perhaps for Nova Lake parts. Intel plans to keep making chips both in-house through Intel Foundry and with outside companies. The company seems to want both firms to benefit from any deal they make.

Earlier rumors claimed TSMC might take over Intel's US factories or buy part of Intel Foundry. Most stories focused on TSMC somehow controlling Intel operations. The new leadership appears to favor a different approach, where both companies work as partners. Intel will soon cut many jobs, with layoffs expected next quarter. These cuts show Intel wants major changes in how it runs its business.
