Intel Core Ultra 5 225 and 225F see big price cuts in US and EU retailers

Major retailers across the United States and Europe have reduced prices on Intel's budget-oriented Core Ultra 5 processors from the Arrow Lake family. The Core Ultra 5 225 drops from its original $246 launch price to $211.24, while the graphics-disabled 225F variant falls from $231 to $193.79. European and Korean markets show even steeper discounts, with the 225F reaching approximately $170 in Korea and both models selling for 175 to 185 Euros. These reductions represent savings between 14 and 16 percent for American consumers.

Despite these markdowns, the processors struggle to match the value proposition of previous generation alternatives. Competing chips like the Ryzen 5 7500F and Core i5-14400F retail for roughly $110 to $120, making them significantly more attractive to budget-conscious builders. The Arrow Lake platform also requires new motherboard purchases, adding additional costs for users upgrading from existing systems. These factors limit the appeal of Intel's latest budget offerings despite their recent price improvements.
