iOS 26 beta hints at iPhone 17 Air slim 6.6-inch display resolution

Developers began testing the latest iOS 26 beta 2 release. Code diggers found hints about Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Air display specs. The discovery reveals a fresh resolution that no current iPhone uses. Apple appears ready to ditch the iPhone 17 Plus for a much thinner design. The company wants to create the slimmest phone they have ever made.

Macworld spotted a clownfish wallpaper file with unusual measurements inside the beta code. The image shows a resolution of 2,736 x 1,260 pixels. No existing iPhone model runs this exact pixel count. Tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously predicted the iPhone 17 Air would have a 6.6-inch screen. His forecast mentioned a 2,740 x 1,260 resolution that matches closely with these new findings.

Apple plans to make the iPhone 17 Air just 5.5mm thick. This ultra-thin design will break records for smartphone thickness. The slim profile comes with major trade-offs for users. Engineers had to squeeze in a tiny 2,800mAh battery to achieve this form factor. Apple might release a separate battery pack accessory to help customers extend their phone's daily usage time.
