Islamic University fired Assistant Professor Hafizul Islam from the Development Studies Department. The university accused him of homosexual conduct and harassing students. Acting Registrar Professor Dr Monzurul Haque signed the dismissal order. Students had filed multiple complaints against the teacher. The university formed a probe committee to investigate the serious allegations.

The probe committee found evidence supporting many student claims.

University officials held the 268th syndicate meeting on May 31. The syndicate voted to dismiss Islam permanently from his teaching position. The dismissal took effect immediately on May 31. University leaders said Islam's actions disrupted campus peace and violated discipline rules. The decision followed months of student pressure and formal complaints.

Students began protesting on October 7, 2024 and demanded Islam's removal. They submitted 27 written complaints to the Vice Chancellor about the professor. The complaints detailed incidents of forced homosexual acts, student abuse, and sexual harassment. Students also gave verbal accounts of additional misconduct.
