Jacket Feud Turns Brutal with Knife and Brick

A court sentenced Ephraim Maera to four years behind bars for attacking another man during a jacket theft dispute. The 27-year-old from Village 27 Manyame stabbed and beat 41-year-old Kudzanai Tarirai Mlambo at a local shopping center. Maera accused Mlambo of stealing his jacket and launched the violent attack on May 21st. Regional Magistrate Innocent Bepura denied any fine or suspended sentence options. The judge said the assault showed clear intent to cause serious harm.

Maera first confronted Mlambo around 6am and slapped him before the victim ran away. Mlambo returned to the business center later that morning to continue his errands. Maera attacked again around 11am and punched Mlambo repeatedly. The attacker stabbed the victim twice and hit him with a brick before witnesses stopped the violence. Medical staff treated Mlambo for head wounds and facial injuries.

Prosecutor Innocent Mudzingwa argued that Maera used excessive force during the confrontation. The court heard evidence that Maera acted deliberately and without justification for his actions. Magistrate Bepura wanted to send a strong message about violent crime to the community. The four-year prison term reflects the serious nature of the assault charges.
