Jagex Cuts Jobs And Dumps OSRS Server Dream

British game company Jagex cut jobs across the studio. Community Manager JagexHooli told Reddit users about the changes. The layoffs happened as part of a company restructure. Most job cuts came from areas outside game development and player support. Some RuneScape team members also lost their jobs as the company moves toward a simpler development process.

JagexHooli said RuneScape 3 will keep growing despite the layoffs. The game roadmap stays the same. Content development continues on its current path. The company remains committed to investing in the game. Leaders will discuss the changes with players when ready.

Jagex also stopped work on Project Zanaris. The project would have allowed private servers for Old School RuneScape. Company leaders decided to pause the project without a set return date. They want to focus on improving the main Old School experience instead. The project faced mixed reactions from players who raised valid concerns.

Jagex recently launched RuneScape Dragonwilds on Steam Early Access. The survival multiplayer game attracted many buyers. Different analytics websites report between 550,000 and 842,000 purchases. The numbers vary depending on which tracking service provides the data.
